Stonebarn Landscapes is a family-run, multi award-winning landscaping company based in the Chew Valley near Bristol. We specialise in garden design, landscape construction and horticultural maintenance for private clients, commercial projects and public spaces. From one-off show gardens to long-term care contracts, we bring together horticultural knowledge, build quality and a strong sense of place.

Stonebarn was founded by Jon Wheatley, one of the UK’s most respected horticulturalists and winner of over 20 RHS Gold Medals. His work spans private gardens, public horticulture, education and award-winning exhibits. Now joined by his daughter Lizzy and her partner Tom, the team brings together thoughtful design, practical experience and planting expertise across all projects.

Awards & recognition

Jon Wheatley is a recipient of the RHS Victoria Medal of Honour — the Society’s highest award — and the 2023 RHS People’s Award.

He is Chair of South West in Bloom, Chair of Judges for the Windlesham Prison Trophy, and a long-standing RHS judge and mentor.

    Managing Director & Founder

    An award-winning horticulturalist with over 40 years’ experience, Jon leads the business and continues to shape the direction of Stonebarn with a strong focus on quality, plantsmanship and professionalism.

    Lizzy Wheatley

    Garden Designer & Head of Maintenance

    Lizzy brings creativity, planting knowledge and day-to-day leadership to both the design studio and maintenance team. She works closely with clients to develop beautiful spaces that grow better over time.

    Head of Landscaping

    Tom oversees all build projects, managing the Stonebarn construction team on-site. With an eye for detail and a calm, practical approach, he ensures gardens are delivered cleanly and confidently.
