Pathway through bamboo garden with circular stone arch

Garden Design

Every good garden starts with a great idea.

From private gardens to commercial landscapes, we design spaces that are thoughtful, beautiful and built to last. Led by RHS award-winner Jon Wheatley and Lizzy Wheatley, our in-house team offers tailored design services, from planting schemes to full garden designs ready to build.

Whether you’re looking for a complete redesign or just need help bringing a border to life, we can guide you from first sketch to final planting.

Garden Design

We offer a complete design service, from early concepts to scaled layout plans and material suggestions. These packages are ideal for clients looking to build with us, or to take a design forward independently. We’re now offering design as a standalone, chargeable service.

Planting Design

This is a real strength of ours, and often where a space truly comes to life. We create planting schemes that reflect your preferences, suit your soil, and work with your site. From a single shaped border to an entire garden, we know how to make planting sing.

Horticultural Consultancy

We also offer practical, one-off consultancy for clients who want expert guidance. Whether it’s a fresh set of eyes on an existing space or help planning for future development, we’re happy to advise.

Tree Consultancy

Tree health assessments, planning-related surveys and care plans, delivered in partnership with qualified arborists.

Collaboration

While most of our design work is done in-house, we’re always open to collaboration, particularly where we’re brought in to build or plant as part of a wider team.

How it works

1. Initial brief & site visit

We’ll visit your garden to understand the space, listen to what you’re hoping to achieve, and offer some early ideas. This visit helps us understand your requirements in detail. Everything from how you use the space to your style, budget, and any practical challenges we’ll need to account for.

2. Design fee proposal

Following the visit, we’ll send you a tailored proposal that outlines our suggested design approach, what’s included, and a clear breakdown of the design fee. You’ll have a chance to review and ask questions before proceeding.

3. Design development

Once agreed, we’ll begin developing your design, starting with concepts and evolving through sketches, layout plans and planting ideas. We’ll work closely with you throughout this stage, refining details and ensuring the design reflects your goals.

4. Final design & quotation

You’ll receive a full design package, including scaled plans and visuals. We’ll also provide a detailed build quotation if you'd like us to deliver the project. Or, if you prefer, you can take the design forward with your own contractor, our drawings will be suitable for tender or handover.
